It's a tit bit nippley out there

Now that school is back in session I have started riding again but this has to be the coldest that I have ever seen it here in Durango. A little recap Cross Nats went not so well. My break back home was sweet I did a little coaching with some little rippers at ol' Wa Wa chusett. Then I went up to Stowe for a week and hung out with Nate Dogg and did some grooming with him and some of the best skiing I have ever done back on the east side.

Last weekend Dave and I went Skiing at Silverton. That had to be one of the best skiing days I have had, not the best but damn good. Here are a few Pics we took.

Here's a picture of Dave, me and Jed who we met up with at the mtn.

A picture of the scenery

In other news it seems that I will be Graduating this Semester and when I say graduating I don't mean I will walk then have to take classes the next semester to finish up like some people out there. After 5 long years my college life is finally coming to an end.

Well I got to go and ski or ride, I haven't made up my mind yet because the thermometer hasn't hit 10 yet.

Nationals and some cross

Sweet mustache pic

stolen from Velonews

Well since the last update I have the new cross bike built up and it is sweet and it rides really really well. In all the years I have raced cross I have only ridden a few bikes but this bike is easily the best bike I have ridden. The only problem is that I haven't been riding to fast so having a sweet light fast bike doesn't really matter when your ridding slow, the end result is getting spanked in Gloucester and almost getting lapped. That aside, I raced two weeks ago here in Durango and set up a cool course and actually had a decent race but Travis and Todd were there so I ended up 3rd but I was able to battle it out with Travis for most of the race.

On to this past weekend where I raced for the ol' Fort at Collegiate MTB Nationals. When we arrived to Banner Elk I pretty much had a chubby because it was raining and super muddy. When Ben, Noah and I went out to pre-ride I was just pulling away from Ben the whole time, so knowing that my own team mate was going to be my biggest competition I thought I could maybe win. As the day progressed The rain slowed and a couple hundred more collegiate riders rode the course turning the course into peanut butter which left the sections of the course I was riding fast into speed walking sections. On to race day first of all it was a really early wake up, for some reason I couldn't fall asleep until 2 Thursday night and we had to wake up at 5 so waking up with only 3 hours of sleep hurt. We headed over to the course around 7 and started warming up in the pitch black. When 8 am rolled around the sun finally poked it's head out and the gun went off. Ben and I tagged along by Scott Stewart from Lees Mcrae led the first half of the lap until Scott disconnected from the Germans fierce pace. I knew the race was going to be tough when I would be riding descent and Ben was running next to me going just as fast. So we came to the fire road climb to the finish and he throttled me on the climb and gapped me by 25 seconds in a half mile. On the next lap I started riding to fast for the technical sections so I started flailing and I came through the start finish and Ben had 3 minutes. So on the third lap I rode my own race and came through the start finish only 1:20 down on Ben but at the same time Ben heard I was getting closer so he hammered. On the last lap I was given'er but with at least 60 lapped riders to go through I was crashing a lot trying to get around them and started to take my time so I could conserve my 2nd place and came through the finish in 2nd about 6 minutes down....ouch. But that was good for the team because we had a first and second already. SO I waited to see my other team mates come in and they did well coming in 7th and 12th.

The next day was the STXC. Ben and I got screwed on our start positions and had to start in the last and second to last rows. So we had to hammer through the field and finally on maybe the 5th lap we made it to the group of 2nd-8th. Ben kept going straight through while I had to rest a bit. In the end Ben was 2nd and I ended up in 5th with another Fort rider in 4th who was lucky enough to start in the front row, and Noah rode well finishing in 9th. In the end we garnered a lot of points for the fort helping the team win the team omnium. That night we partied hard and had some good fun I was able to pull out some Break dancing moves which is always a good time.

Well this weekend I'm off to Boulder for some UCI cross races, we'll see how that goes.

It's been awhile

well school started a few weeks ago. I would have to say I have one of the most relaxed schedules I have ever had. 2 classes and co-op credits for working at RGPs. Not to shabby. The only problem is that I have to write a lot of papers and weekly updates.

Seeing how this is my last chance at racing mountain bikes for the school I decided to do some of the races and try for the national title this year. I have only raced one cross country so far but it went pretty well considering I broke my front derailleur on the first lap. I was super stoked to race our home race last weekend but it was sadly rained out. To me that sounds crazy that a MTB race is rained out but considering where the race is it would have been who ever can run the fastest with their bike strapped on their back. So this weekend I am racing at Grand Junction where I hopefully can get a win to boost the confidence before nationals.

Although I have been racing on the mountain bike I have been riding the cross bike a lot lately, not the new bike but that should be built soon. I have been itching to race cross considering that the season kicked off last weekend, I have been looking at the results and I have been so jealous of everyone racing their cross bikes. So I booked a ticket to fly home next Thursday so I can race at Gloucester, my favorite race.

In other news we got a new roomy at unit 51, his name is Lil' Mig and hes a cat. He's a hyper hypo but he's pretty cool.

Wow wow we wow

What is up with it Vanilla Faces! This trip back to the east coast has been a pretty fun and eventfull. I have been doing a lot of wake boarding and throwing down, I've almost got the back flip down but still not yet there. The racing back here has gone really well I Won one of them, thats my first win in a while, the second race I was second to broderick. I was able to make some money and do some super sick races. Last weekend at Mount Snow I had my best race at a National or nationals race. Great Success! It was sweet to finally crack the top 15, I don't know how I did it considering I kinked my chain on the second lap and had to ride in just the big ring and either 3 or 4 in the back for the rest of the race. Now I'm in NC kick'in it with the WEllZes at a plush pad on top of a mountain. Lame update but I had to do one this month.

new hair doo and bike ridin'

yea, I finally cut my hair today and decided to stop when I looked myself in the mirror and said "man I look good" and then yelled "hey everybody see how good I look."

Yea I look Good

The Teva games went alot better then Angel Fire so I think I might be able to ride well at this altitude stuff so for once I am kinda looking forward to Deer Valley. Team 3-D finally got new Uni's or costumes so I don't have to ride with me boys hanging out. I also saw Ocean's 13 with TT and The Real One I thought it was really good, one that you may have to watch a few more times to become a classic.
well see you when i see you.

whammy

yea thats right I finally got the new frame so now I am an official member of the 3-Dorks squad. Its pretty tits it weighs around 20.5 lbs dat's nice!

I raced last weekend at Angel Fire, damn I forgot how high it was there. I was breathing through a straw between every pedal stroke. I haven't felt that shitty and tired after a race in awhile, my bod just isn't used to that much oxygen deprevasion. A couple words of wisdom, don't race at altitude. Sadly I am going to punish myself again this weekend in Vail, atleast I will be able to eat at Bob's place.

We had Winston over for a couple of days and he was well behaved aside from humping Richards leg a couple of times, It must be the red hair extreme resemblance an irish sheep dog.

Now that I have the new frame the old one is for sale its on ebay but if you want to buy it send me an email @ adsnyder@fortlewis.edu best offer goes.

California racing

Well school has been over with for a while now which I am totally physched about, and I actually had my best semester yet somehow? training has been going well and has finally paid off. The races in California went well I still wasn't able to top my best result but I still had some really good consistant races. Aside from staying really far from the venue in Santa Maria where the 3 of us 3-Ders were the only crackers and the mandatory fiestas that started at 12am sharp and ended promptly at 4am. I finally bucked up and bought my first pair of ear plugs so I could sleep. Anyways I was able to accomplish my goal of placing top 25 in all the national races. In Santa Ynez I was 21st a pretty respectable result and I also finished a short track which I think was the biggest result. Now I know what it feels like and I don't think i really like staying in for 25 minutes, every time i came through the start finish I was in so much pain and I would look at frosty hoping he would pull me but he never did which I guess is a good thing. During the break between the two Cali races i went and stayed at Austins' house living it up in the OC for a few days until I made my way down to Fontana where the Semis out number the population of Ontario and Fontana combined. The races there were a little faster with everybody being there but I still managed to place 24th. I feel as if it was a better results because the whole field was their and I also didn't race like a vagina. There was only one mishap that slowed down my performance and that was catching my crotchal region on my seat and tearing away at my manhood and shorts. Luckily I only lost the group I was with and was able to hold on to a top 25. The next day in the short track a total cluster fuck I was able to have a really good 10 minutes riding in the top 25 then completely mushroom clouding and falling back to 30th finishing 20 minutes of the 25 minute race. All in all it was a good trip and hopefully something to build on for a top 15 at Nationals.

Oh yea the bear has almost cleared out of the Den and heading his himself back to NY and the new replacement is moving in soon. we'll miss our little bear ending our 4 year room mate stint.

Talk about your close calls.
